The Pierre Boulez Saal – designed by Frank Gehry, with acoustics by globally acclaimed acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota – seats up to 682 visitors and offers an incredibly diverse and engaging program of internationally acclaimed artists each season.
Situated within the Akademie’s building, the Pierre Boulez Saal represents the public face of the Akademie. The Pierre Boulez Saal gives students a nurturing environment for taking their first steps into the spotlight, while offering them an outlet and stage to become part of the city’s cultural life. As part of their curriculum, students present several one-hour concerts during the academic year, introducing themselves to their audiences.
Additionally, students enrolled at the Akademie have many opportunities to attend the rehearsals and concerts of visiting artists throughout the year. Additionally, all Akademie students are entitled to free tickets to concerts in the Pierre Boulez Saal with advance reservation.
