Born in Austria to a Persian family of musicians, Kian Soltani has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most talented cellists of the young generation. In the first part of his program, he performs the solo sonata by Zoltán Kodály and a new solo piece by Jörg Widmann. Together with Russian pianist Nathalia Milstein, who has also won early acclaim and is currently completing her studies at the Barenboim-Said Akademie, he takes on works by Shostakovich and Chopin.

The world premiere of the composition by Jörg Widmann was commissioned by the Daniel Barenboim Foundation.
