From Silence to Recognition: The Story of the German Processing of the Past

Germany’s reputation in the world has changed dramatically over the last 50 years from being the pariah nation par excellence to a society that has basically come to terms with the record of its history of evil. Having lived for the last 50 years in the 50th state of the USA, namely Hawaii, and travelled a lot in Asia, I have personally witnessed this change and will talk about the long German process and why the world is looking at Germany today in a different way.
