In the series
of talks “Zeitfragen des Jahrhunderts” personalities from the fields of
politics, science and culture discuss the implementation of the 17 Sustainable
Development Goals agreed upon by UN member states in the 2030 Agenda. The
current episode of the series is dedicated to the 16th agreement, thus to the
topic of “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.” Michael Barenboim, dean of
the Barenboim-Said Akademie and concert master of the West-Eastern Divan
Orchestra, joins journalist Düzen Tekkal and Dan Smith, director of the SIPRI
Peace Research Institute, to discuss proven means for the international
community to deal with violence and conflict. Barenboim talks about his involvement
with the orchestra and the dialogues beyond nationality and religion that it
enables.
