In early 2018, Daniel Barenboim and the Boulez Ensemble premiered Luca Francesconi’s Daedalus—now the Italian composer’s music is at the center of another program, with three works for chamber ensemble, written over the last ten years, providing an introduction to his oeuvre. The concert also serves as a counterpoint to the new production of Francesconi’s music theater piece Quartett, which is set to be seen at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden this October in a new production also led by Daniel Barenboim. The program also includes Ludwig van Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Woodwinds Op. 16 and Robert Schumann's Adagio and Allegro for Horn and Piano.
