Piano
In his solo recital, Giuseppe Guarrera takes on a pair of highly challenging works by two composers who were celebrated performers in their own right: the program includes Lizst’s Rhapsodie espagnole and Rachmaninoff’s Corelli Variations, which in 1931 prompted the composer to remark: “I can’t play my own music!” The Sicilian-born pianist also presents Tchaikovsky’s G-major Sonata and Guillem Palomar's Jagdlied, which Guarrera premiered at the Pierre Boulez Saal in January 2022. Like Guarrera himself, the young Spanish composer is a graduate of the Barenboim-Said Akademie.
Some months ago. Giuseppe Guarrera worked on Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor Op. 2/1 with Daniel Barenboim. Watch the full masterclass on Pierre Boulez Saal Online.
