Mystery Sonatas for Violin and Basso continuo
Mark Andre
…selig sind for Clarinet and Electronics
Mark Andre’s highly spiritual selig sind… (“blessed are”) for clarinet and electronics—its subtitle translates as “Spaces of Disappearance”—was premiered by Jörg Widmann at the 2018 Witten Days for New Chamber Music. This extraordinary piece will come to new life in the unique spatial setting of the Pierre Boulez Saal, paired with a selection from Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber’s equally enigmatic 17th-century “Mystery” Sonatas.
Approximate running time: 1h 30m with one intermission
