French Suites BWV 812–817

Within weeks of the hall’s opening, Sir András Schiff began a multiyear cycle to present the major keyboard works of Johann Sebastian Bach at the Pierre Boulez Saal. Following the “Goldberg” Variations, the Piano Partitas, and both parts of the Well-Tempered Clavier in previous seasons, the series now comes to a close: on two consecutive days in April, Schiff performs the six French Suites. The English Suites, written a few years earlier, will be heard in June.
