Prof. Ofira Henig began her career as the resident director of the Habima National Theater. In 1995 she was appointed the Jerusalem Khan Theater’s artistic director. In 2001, she was appointed the artistic director of the Israel international Festival. In 2004 Ofira left the position for the purpose of establishing a new Ensamble in The Lab- a new alternative Theater in Jerusalem where she started to research the theatrical work in few spoken languages. In 2007, after working with Peter Brook, Ofira was invited together with her Ensamble, to establish a new theater house near Tel Aviv. Among her work: The Seagull, Three Sisters, Yerma, Salome, Back to Desert, Screens, Scenes from an execution, Ulysses, See Breeze, Both Upon a Time, Sky, The Claim of Don Quixote and more.

Through her career, she won the most important awards in the Israeli culture world for her creation. In June 2011 she was dismissed from her position for having taken an active part in the protest against the Israeli Government that forced actors performing in the occupied territories.

Since 2011, Ofira chose to create her projects only in the context of independent productions: In Spitting Distance (premiered in Jaffa), The Bees` road (premiered in Schaubuhne-Berlin), Geh mir aus der Sonne (premiered in Theaterspektakel- Zurich, Kunst Festival- Munich), Three Dog Night (premiered in Deutsches Theater- Berlin), KIND OF (premiered in Schaubuhne- Berlin, Ruhrtriennale Festival- Essen) and recently The Queen commanded Him to Forget produced by the Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin.

Henig shares her life between Tel Aviv where she teaches, Daliyat-Al Carmel where she lives and Berlin where she lives and creates her projects.
