biography

Elena Bregman was born in Minsk into a family of musicians. She received her first piano lessons from her mother at the age of four and subsequently studied with Prof. Schatzkaja (a student of Igumnov) at a musical lyceum. At the age of 16, she performed with the State Chamber Orchestra of Belarus for the first time. She completed her studies at the Minsk Conservatory of Music with Prof. Shershewsky (pupil of Sofronitsky) and was certified as a concert soloist, ensemble player, accompanist and teacher. In addition to her studies, Elena Bregman's musical development was profoundly influenced by years of private lessons with Professors Naumov and Voskresenski from the Tchaikovsky Musical Academy in Moscow. At the age of 21, she won the 4th International Churljonis Competition for Pianists and has since performed numerous solo concerts.

After her graduation, Bregman worked as an accompanist in the classes of concert violinist Olga Parchomenko (pupil of David Oistrach) at the Minsk Conservatory of Music and went on national tours with her. In 1992, Elena Bregman moved to Berlin to continue her concert and teaching activities. For years, she was an accompanist at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ and participated in many internationally renowned master classes in Germany and the rest of Europe. Today, Bregman looks back on a career which has included numerous solo and ensemble concerts in Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Slovenia and Israel as well as several recordings of works by contemporary composers.
