biography

Texas-born pianist Jonathan Ware trained at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, at New York’s Juilliard School, and at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin. He has won major awards, included the first prize of the 2014 lied competition of the Internationale Hugo-Wolf-Akademie in Stuttgart with baritone Ludwig Mittelhammer, as well as the accompanist prize at the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition and Das Lied Competition. Concerts have taken him to Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, the Ravinia Festival, and the Berliner Festspiele, among others. For several years he has been accompanist for the Festival Akademie Lied of Heidelberger Frühling, as well as the coordinator of the Piano Academy at the Verbier Festival. He made his German Debut in 2012 at the Rheingau Musik Festival with Benjamin Appl. His musical partners have included artists such as Dame Felicity Lott, Christiane Oelze, Golda Schultz, Robin Tritschler, Elsa Dreisig, Ludwig Mittelhammer and the Vogler Quartett. Jonathan teachers at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin and is a faculty member at the Barenboim-Said Akademie.
